Leadership Development U is a premium,
comprehensive program to advance your personal, professional and networking
skills. It is designed with the young and emerging professional in mind.
By young, we mean the young in age and the young at heart. We understand
that whether you’re 23 years old or 60 years of age, you may want
more in the way of personal or professional development to cultivate
your business and/or career. Emerging professional encompasses the individual
who has a sense of continued growth, whether it’s your first career
or you’re transitioning to the yet, unidentified.
For those engaging in continuous learning, seeking new approaches to
career and personal challenges or desiring a coaching and mentoring
program customized to their individual needs…Leadership Development
U is the answer. For individuals experiencing a wave of stagnation,
anxiety due to lack of career direction, feelings of inadequacy because
of inexperience or disenchantment with their present condition…Leadership
Development U is the answer.
Leadership Development U is a nine-month program running from August
to May, featuring individual coaching sessions, team learning labs and
group seminars. A Fall orientation meet-and-greet networking event will
kickoff this year’s program. An online MAPP (Motivational Appraisal
of Personal Potential) assessment will be one of the initial exercises
focused on identifying each participant’s strengths and personal
potential.
The individual sessions are to identify your personal goals and expectations.
Personal discoveries are facilitated through one-on-one coaching sessions.
During such time, each participant will work with their principal coach
to lay a foundation identifying personal goals and strategies, to deepen
learning and to improve overall personal/professional performance.
The team learning or development labs will consist of no more than ten
(10) participants seeking similar growth. Business owners, corporate
managers and professionals of “like” goals, business challenges
and/or career objectives will be matched with others to formulate a
circle or peer group. Each circle will be facilitated by a Development
Coach, charged with guiding the team through a joint learning experience.
The group will learn from each other’s experiences, participate
in leadership development exercises and networking events. The mark
of a leader is the ability to value and learn from different perspectives.
These sessions will be held in a risk-free environment for those who
want to vent frustration, share difficulties and seek other perspectives.
The circle members will be encouraged to continue their networking and
learning activities outside of the team meetings, as well.
The university-wide seminars will be available to all program participants,
offering diverse thoughts, ideas and practices on various topics. Lectures
and/or panel discussions by well-known, highly accomplished, community
and business leaders will be scheduled throughout the nine-month term.

Upon completion, each participant will participate in a graduation exercise.
